  9. Developed by Advanced Software Concepts, FTPack is a File Transfer Tool
  10. designed to support multi-host/multi-session connections using the FTP file
  11. transfer protocol over any TCP-IP connection using Apple’s MacTCP driver and
  12. the standard access interfaces of the Communication Toolbox.
  13.  
  14. FTPeek is a very simple application delivered with FTPack, which allows a fast
  15. and simple access to FTPack.
  16.  
  17. FTPack is MacTCP 1.1 and System 7.0 compliant and supports balloon help.

  21. This Demo is being made available on this forum ONLY for evaluation purpose.

  23. Enclosed is a demo version of FTPack and FTPeek. This version is fully
  24. functional, except that some portions of the transferred files are overridden
  25. when selecting Text or Binary mode and that MacBinary transmissions are limited
  26. to 5K. Also, the Installer utility which allows an End-User or a System
  27. Administrator to setup the default connection parameters is not enclosed.

  33. • Formats are implemented. They allow to give a similar look to the list of
  34.   files whatever the FTP Server may be.

  36. • Folders can be transferred (when connecting to Unix, Mac, PC and other
  37.   standard FTP servers).

  39. • Up to 4 View dialogs can be displayed simultaneously.

  41. • Balloon Help is supported (System 7 only)

  43. • Developers: your applications can take complete control over the FTP

  50. • Any Macintosh with at least 128K Roms (Macintosh Plus and newers).

  52. • Macintosh System Software 6.0.4 or later.

  54. • The Macintosh Communications Toolbox v. 1.0 or later.

  56. • A Communication Toolbox compliant application like 5 PM (our own powerful
  57.   terminal emulation application), ClarisWorks, MacTerminal or Sample (delivered 
  58.   with the Communications Toolbox Basic Connectivity Set) or a HyperCard XCMD set 
  59.   like our ascHyperCTB product.

  61. • MacTCP v. 1.0.1 or later, the Apple TCP/IP driver for the Macintosh.

  64. Installation Procedure :

  67. 1) Make sure the CTB and MacTCP are correctly installed.
  68.    In System 7.0, MacTCP must be stored in the Control Panel folder, and for
  69.    versions 1.0.x of MacTCP, an alias must be created and stored at the top
  70.    level of the System Folder.

  72. 2) Drag the FTPack tool into your "Communications Folder" located in the
  73.    System Folder if you are running System 6.0x or in your "Extensions" folder
  74.    if you are running System 7.0.
  75.  
  76. 3) Run your CTB compliant application, select and setup FTPack for the
  77.    connection.

  79. 4) Use the On-line help if you have any problems.

  82. Important Notes for FTPeek :

  85. • The FTPack tool must be named "FTPack" or "FTPack Demo" in order to be
  86.   recognized by FTPeek.

  88. • If you have checked the "Show Sessions List" check box in FTPack, FTPeek will
  89.   let you freely choose and configure a session, else FTPeek will automatically
  90.   select the "•Default" session and start the session immediately.
